Downdraft induction hob or induction with hood? Read on to find out the benefits of choosing a downdraft in your new kitchen, Bishop’s Stortford

Becoming increasing popular, the downdraft induction hob is a smart choice for the modern kitchen
with many benefits over the traditional non-vented induction hob. For starters, there’s no need to
add a hood for extraction as the downdraft does it all – a good choice if your hob is going on an
island and you’d like no obstructions blocking your view as you cook. Also, downdrafts tend to be
extremely quiet – thanks to advanced technology and unlike some overhead hoods.

Downdraft

Downdrafts work by drawing steam and fat away from your pans, down through a cavity either in the middle of your hob or to the sides via a trough, then down behind the unit to a plasma filter which converts odours and bacteria into clean air and is then dispersed through the plinth. Alternatively, the vapours can be drawn out via ducting under the floor and drawn out of the house altogether.

Downdrafts are not cheap however, and you can expect to pay from around £2- £6k although as more manufacturers offer them, the prices seem to be getting more competitive. Bora were one of the first on the scene and offer a range to suit every kitchen and customer, check them out for yourself https://www.bora.com/gb/gb/cooktop-extractor/product-overview/
